Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP)

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot is a most optimized plan of migration that permits employers in Canada’s four Atlantic regions – Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island – to offer foreign nationals for employments that they couldn’t fill locally.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program: How it works

When an employer finds an applicant who meets their business needs and the program criteria, that business should initially offer them an occupation. Applicants don’t have to obtain a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) under this program.

An applicant that need to fill a job requirement will approach for acquiring a temporary work permit, with the goal that the applicant and his or her family can come to Canada as quickly as time permits. To get this work license, the applicant will require:

  • a valid job offer
  • a letter from the province; and
  • a commitment to apply for permanent residence within 90 days of the temporary work permit application.

The work experience, education, and job offer required will depend on whether the individual is applying as a worker or as an international student graduate. The other requirements are the same for both the Atlantic immigration.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program: Employer Designation

The AIPP is a migration experimental run program, presented in 2017. It permits qualified skilled workers, semi-skilled labourers, and international graduates to become a permanent resident of Canada and move to one of the Atlantic areas i.e Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. All projects under the AIPP are employer-driven, implying that candidates require a job offer to fulfil the criteria.

The employer requirement procedure is different for each area as each area has its own governance and guidelines. The four areas are as follows:

  • Nova Scotia Employer Requirements
  • New Brunswick Employer Requirements
  • Prince Edward Island Employer Requirements
  • Newfoundland and Labrador Employer Requirements

In all cases, the employer must send the job offer, the residency plan for every family member, and a support application to the area for processing. On the off chance that the area approves the application, they will send the candidate/applicant an approval letter. This letter must be submitted with the job application.

There might be different rules and regulations for different regions, But the basic rules of the program are the same and as follows:

To be listed, an employer must:

  • Have a business working on regulated terms.
  • Give data on the job requirements; and
  • Focus on working with a specialist organization association on agreement and maintenance.

To progress toward becoming approved, an employer must:

  • Exhibit that efforts to employ locally have not been fruitful;
  • Enlist a foreign worker;
  • Give a substantial, full-time, non-regular employment offer co-marked with the remote specialist; and
  • Give an individualized agreement co-signed with the foreign worker.
