Express Entry

Express Entry

Introduced first in the year 2015 as an electronic system for immigration, allowing express entry to Canada for qualified and skilled workers. Providing a framework, this system allows applicants of permanent residency to fill the vacancies wherever there is a demand in Canada. This new fast track system allows Citizen And Immigration Canada (CIC) to select the skilled immigrants with the required qualifications after quick assessment under various federal economic immigration programs.

Build an online profile

Willing candidates are required to set up an Express Entry profile in the Express Entry pool database, accessible to the immigration department as well as the Canadian government. The forms include extensive details about the applicants from general information to their skills, work experience, language ability, education etc. The candidates who are selected from here, are further moved into individual categories where they are ranked in accordance with their chances of economic success. Candidates without a valid job profile are sorted to the Job’s Bank by the Government of Canada.

Receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA):

After the successful completion of filling out an Express Entry form, foreign candidates will have to wait in order to receive an ITA. All the draws irrespective of the system they are under must have a minimum CRS score and a high ranking CRS score is always preferred. After receiving the ITA, the time period where the applicant must apply and submit all the documents to support their case for the permanent residency is 90 days.

Calculation of CRS points:

Evaluating people on the basis of the Comprehensive Ranking System with a total score of 1200 points. Higher the score, higher are the chances of the candidate to make it through the program.

Candidates who are single can score 500 points available on the basis of age, education, language ability and work experience in Canada. This is also known as the Human Capital Factor.

600 points are available for a valid provincial job offer, study experience in Canada or for having a sibling/relative in Canada. Additional points if the individual has French language skills as well. 100 points come from the skill transferability factors.

Human Capital Factor carries up to 460 points for the principal applicant. Up to 40 points are for the Human Capital Factor of the spouse.
