Family Sponsorship

Family Sponsorship

Your relatives can live, study and work in Canada on the off chance that they become a permanent resident of Canada. You can support certain relatives to come to Canada in case you’re at least 18 years of age and a:

  • Spouse, common-law or conjugal partner
  • Dependent child
  • Parent
  • Grandparent
  • Sibling, nephew, niece, or grandchild under 18 years who is unmarried and whose parents are deceased

The Spousal Sponsorship Category

The Spousal Sponsorship program is a sub-section of the Family Class migration classification. Under this program, a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident may support a Spouse, Conjugal Partner or Common-law Partner for Canadian Permanent Residency.

There are two major types of sponsorships.

Outland Sponsorship:

An Outland Sponsorship application is commonly considered when the supported partner is living outside of Canada.

Inland Sponsorship:

Inland Sponsorship application is sought when the spouse/common-law partner has brief status in Canada, either as a professional, student, or guest.

After Sponsorship

The permanent living arrangement allowed under the Spousal Sponsorship program conveys certain conditions that must be met:

  • The supporter is monetarily in charge of the individual supported till the supported individual becomes a permanent resident.
  • People who come to Canada as companions/couples are themselves prohibited from supporting a life partner till he/she gets a Canadian Permanent Residency.

The Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship

Canadian citizens and permanent residents may bring their parents and grandparents to Canada through one of two following popular programs:

Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP)

Canada’s Family Class sponsorship program incorporates a stream devoted to guardians and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Guardians and grandparents affirmed under this program get Canadian permanent residency and may, in the long run, have the capacity to apply for Canadian citizenship.

Super Visa

The Super Visa Program enables guardians and grandparents to come to Canada as long haul guests on a multi-section visa for as long as 10 years. Not like standard visitor visas, a Super Visa permit holders can remain in Canada for as long as two years from the date of arrival in Canada.

The Application Process

The application procedure is like that for a normal TRV. In some cases, extra documentation might be required to guarantee that the guardians and grandparents will be all around upheld amid their time in Canada. This prerequisite incorporates:

  • A letter of welcome from the child or grandchild living in Canada;
  • Reports that demonstrate the child or grandchild meets the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO);
  • Evidence of parental association with kid or grandkid, for example, a birth certificate that names the person in question as a parent; and
  • Evidence of restorative protection inclusion for one year with a Canadian insurance agency.

Fees

The Canadian government requires installment of sponsorship and preparing expenses for Family Class applications. Also, there is a “Right of Permanent Residence Fee” for each supported relative who is definitely not a dependent child – this is the main charge that will be discounted if the application is pulled back or can not get through the process.
